Car Stereo died

My Hyundai stereo is 4 years old. The car is 7. I had the stereo replaced within a week of purchase as CDs were not playing - prev owner must just had radio on.

I have no aerial at the moment as it got dislodged badly when driving over a cattle grid, affecting the signal. Just got the 'box' thing on top. Had my MOT last week and mechanic has ordered a new one.

Been listening to CDs since aerial been playing up. Today, I as was leaving a supermarket car park, the stereo which only been on for 20-30 seconds has died. I cannot press any buttons and there is a CD stuck.

I am hoping its just a fuse or a loose wire as I cannot afford for a new radio after been advised to replace 3 of my tyres as well. I don't think its the lack of aerial causing this as been working well for 3 days with no aerial.

I think it's due to the worn tyres, the metal ply appearing from the tyres is affecting the radio frequency energy and also zapping energy from the head unit, the noise from the worn tyres will also drown out the noise from the cd player.

As you suggest, check for a blown fuse, then for loose wires: you could even try removing the unit and unplugging/plugging back in.

However, behind the front panel there is usually a reset button, try holding it in for a few seconds.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))
