Black Horse change default date

In 2002 I took out finance on a motorbike with black horse, I defaulted on the agreement and the account was put as a default, as the 6 years from date of default was approaching Black horse changed the date of default with experian too 2010 some 8 years after the credit agreement was taken out.
The only reason I can think of them doing this is so they can keep the debt active. This information on my credit file is in my opinion wrong and black horse have basically lied to experian.
How can I get this date changed to the original and accurate default date?

What default date was previously on your credit files?

Have you got a copy of your credit file showing that previous default date?

Write to blackhourse to complain and say that you require them to correct the entry back to the previous date with immeditate effect or you will make a complaint to the ICO. If you do have a copy of your credit file showing the earlier date then enclose that with the letter.
