I'm another one recommending Sevilla. We flew to Malaga and then used trains and coaches to do Granada - Cordoba - Sevilla - (oh, and Fuengirola for a few days chill time!) Loved Sevilla - in fact loved Granada, Cordoba & Sevilla.

I forgot to add Pisa. Airlines fly into Pisa then many go on to Florence. However, Pisa is a lovely, compact city and an easy train ride to Lucca if you fancy that, too.

Ljubljana is nice but very small, you won't need 3 days but you could combine it with a trip to the beautiful Lake Bled?

I liked Dubrovnik but it would be crazy busy in August, you could consider Split or Zadar instead?

We have friends who live in Norfolk, handy for Stanstead. They've done lots of city breaks using Ryan Air, but exploring the city into which they actually fly, rather than their 'headline' city.

Eg. The flight is advertised as to Vienna, but it flies into Grazt (?). They've been to Bergamo too.
