Super easy blackberry jam?

Options
Hello!

I have a little pot of blackberries that I would like to make into some jam to go in jam tarts. I think I'll sieve them this time to make it seedless, but need an easy recipe for the jam. I have no specialist equipment, can anyone help point me in the right direction?

hello, haven't got a recipe as such I think I used google but I make blackberry jelly and use a new pair of tights to strain the fruit, it is so much better than any shop bought jam, my kids love it, busy BlackBerrying at the moment, hope someone comes on and gives you a good foolproof recipe. nik

    Hi

I made blackberry jam for the first time at the weekend using no special equipment and I was really pleased with how well it turned out.

    Ingrediants:
    900g blackberries
    600g golden granulated sugar
    50ml water
    a knob of butter

    Method:
Put the blackberries and water in a heavy based pan and bring to the boil, once boiling turn down and simmer for 15 minutes by this time the fruit should be soft.

Add the sugar and stir it until it dissolves then turn the heat back up til the mixture reaches a rolling boil and keep it boiling for 10 to 12 minutes. Try not to stir the mixture as it needs to reach the setting temperature.

After 10- 12 minutes skim any excess scum off the top and put the butter in which helps dissolve any remaining scum.

Leave the mixture for about 15 minutes off the heat to allow it to settle and then pour it into steralised jars.

Hope this recipe works for you as I said I was really pleased with the results, good luck xx

Sounds like a tiny amount. A microwave might be the quickest/easiest/less messy route.

Equal amount, by weight, of fruit and sugar: http://www.microwaveassociation.org.uk/recipes/recipe.php?id=13

I used this recipe http://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/main-ingredient/fruit-/quick-bramble-jelly.html and it was delicious! Thanks for your suggestions, the microwave method sounds like something to try next time around.
