I think you will find a similar thread has just being locked.

Entitledto.com is very straight forward and will give you a good idea.

    Hi Katy

Call you local CAB and ask them for a quick benefits check, they will tell you what you could be entitled to.

I would just say that my partner and I both work, we cant afford to go on holiday this year (or for the last couple of years come to that) and neither of my sons wear brand clothing and have managed to get through school and life without being bullied.

Amazingly we are all still happy

Why dont you have a look on some of the other boards for some money saving ideas and see if you could make savings on your budget to pay for the luxuries that you want? Many families are in similar positions and are happy to share their ideas.

Yes, in total agreement with krisskross.

Thank you kateyt34 for taking the time to entertain us on an otherwise miserable day!

  • yes you are probably right in what you say but my son has been bullied from nursery and now he is going to secondary school , he actually had a cheap t shirt on to the school leaving disco and his friends were slagging him , well of course i told him they are not true friends but it still hurt his feelings , my son is very quite , i was working for seven months there but had to stop because the person i had watching them got bored watching my kids for a few hours i have no parents to ask for help either i just thought in this world there was still considerate people i suppose i just asumed that everyone goes on holiday because everyone from the three towns where i stay goes on three or four holidays a year sorry for that mistake

  • No, everyone doesn't go on holiday, we didn't go for years when our son was small and after that we only went camping or staying with friends. It's only been since our forties we've been able to go afford to go further afield - and that's with my husband being a teacher! It was only when I went back to work full-time that we could afford to go abroad.

Buying your son designer clothes is not going to stop him being bullied, it is just playing into the hands of the bullies. Change his school if you can, if not go in and see the Head about the bullying.

As regards your benefit, you eally ought to be talking to CAB, they will see if you are claiming everything you are entitled to.
