Replace paper invoices with eletronic copies?

I have only a relatively small office and as we have to keep 6 years of everything! It would save me a heck of a lot of space if I could just scan invoices and save them on computer?
Obviously backup would have to be adequate- online, external whilst being on computer.
Would there be any problems with this? Tax wise ?
Is there any specialist programs which help fill the invoices etc so you can search them quickly
Thank you

I have a pdf printer on my laptop and keep all invoices in pdf format - they can then be printed to paper or emailed if needed."There is a light that never goes out"0
