Tax credits and partner moving in

Hi, I'm currently a single parent to one school age child. My bf is currently in the process of selling his house and once it completes he will be moving in :j

I currently get child tax credit and a small amount of working tax credit. However once he moves in I will need to stop my claim as our earnings will be over the threshold.

My question is once the renewal comes around next year and I have to complete my declaration, do I include his salary from when he moves in ? Or is it still just based on my income for the year ?

If it just mine, I won't have an overpayment as my salary won't change, but do they then take his into account after he's moved in, even when I won't be claiming, then April to when he moves in will all have to be paid back.

Can someone please clarify for me. I understand tax credits work on yearly income, but just not sure if they will use his at the end of the year.

Many thanks

Dolly x

For your single claim you only declare your income.

You would only declare your partners income if you made a joint claim.

You have no choice but to make a joint claim when in the same home though.

Blondebubbles is right. We are not planning on doing a joint claim as we will be beyond the threshold.

As soon as bf moves in I will close my single claim and not claim at all.
