aer lingus/stobart air

Was booking flights for 6 to dublin yesterday and first check via skyscanner came up at £1070. I thouht I'd check to see if aer lingus was on quidco which it was with 2.5% cash back, but the exact same flights came up at £1500, what a rip off.

Of course I booked them at the cheaper price, I think it's a rip off that aer lingus are offering 2.5% cash back but adding an extra £400+ on for the same flights.

Aer Lingus have a certain number of seats at certain prices. They syndicate some of these out to other distributors (online travel agents etc) such as the firm you found via Skyscanner.

It's likely that they have sold seats at the same cheaper rate themselves but those have all gone. Hence you are being offered a higher fare if you book direct. And a pre-agreed cheaper fare via a third party agent remains available because they haven't yet sold their cheaper seats.
