House viewing - repo, Japanese knotweed, neighbour exposed and urinated!?

Valid points Dave.
In the case of this particular offender neighbour, they are a home-owner and its highly unlikely they would have a mortgage, so the money would be available (ie tied-up in their house, albeit one they had devalued themselves).
I was thinking more of non-solicitor routes of the official variety (eg local council?)and wondering what there is, as there must be a noticeable number of people with that sort of problem neighbour and wondering what to do about it.0 -
I can't see why the council would intervene in a private matter, or on what grounds.0

He could always turn the table and say you were a peeping tom spying on him in his own house.
Maybe his toilet was blocked.0 -
In which case why didn't he use a bucket....... very unusual for there to be a loo in the attic....0

Because its invasive/spreading/very destructive and can potentially affect a lot of Council Tax payers. If Councils can/do spend on things that are nothing to do with them (eg social "jollity:beer:" and the like then necessities would have even higher priority).
I've certainly noticed councils in both my last area and this one blowing money on "social jollities" etc:cool:, so know they do do that...
so if Councils are spending on personal luxuries (like peoples social lives).....then they clearly have money to spare for necessities....like preventing the more irresponsible members of the Community affecting other peoples necessities (like their homes). One example right now of Councils dealing with community issues, for instance, being if a neighbour has rats in their garden because they use it as a dumping ground (at which point Environmental Health step in).0 -
Money, perhaps you misunderstand me.
I am not saying councils shouldn't involve themselves from some moral POV, I'm saying that as things stand, they have no obligation to do so. It's a matter of legislation.0 -
Ah...right....
But Councils have no responsibility either to provide "social life" facilities for some people....but many of them do....though they have no obligation to do so.
I certainly recall being puzzled and absolutely astonished at just how much "social life" my last Council provided for people (despite no legal obligations etc to do so) and there isn't nearly as much of that over here, but it does still happen....
I'll admit to "not believing my eyes" at just how much social life I could get for free back with my last Council or that some people can get a bit of social life for free occasionally here.0
