Phone call now Letter from TSB to "discuss my account"

Hi

I have 2 TSB accounts to gain the interest and am fulfilling everything that is needed to maintain this.

Not long back I received a call from TSB asking if I wanted any other services, I said no, and the person said thats fine if you ever do just please call us. That was nice and easy.

Now I have received a letter saying that they have been trying to contact me about my account, and want me to phone them.

I have been getting calls from Unknown Number and inconvenient times so I ignored...this could be them.

Anyway, has anyone else received a letter like this, are they just trying to sign me up to more services, should I just ignore it?

Thanks

If you can find a freephone saynoto0870 number, then call them. If not, then I wouldn't bother unless you have reason to believe they may be trying to contact you. Banks often use unrecognisable numbers. Next call you get you could answer it to see it it's from TSB. If it is, and it's a sales call, ask them to remove you from their list of sales call contacts.

You probably have your "marketing preferences" set to something like "please pester me any time with any of your offers" (obviously they are using other words). Check your settings and change them - or leave them as they are, and just ignore calls and letters that invite you for account reviews. They are just sales calls, dressed up as 'reviews'. Nowt to worry about.

There's no option that I can see within online banking to opt out of calls or post (just text and e-mail), so it's probably something they ticked (or didn't tick!) on the application form.

Either branch or phone banking would be able to make the changes though.

The short answer is yes, just ignore it. I had a similar letter, phoned up and was told that I now qualified for other products.

It annoyed me, because despite the letter saying 'we have been trying to contact you', they couldn't have tried all that hard. No e-mails, or messages on home or mobile phone. But the wording of the letter makes it seem important and that you need to call.

Either it is sales in which case you can instruct the bank to opt you out of marketing. Either in branch, on the phone or online.

Or there is a genuine problem (eg you are overdrawn) in which case you need to talk to them.

Though, if you can see you balance, on line or at an ATM, and you're not overdrawn, you don't need to talk to them!

They phoned me the other day.

I only opened the accounts for the interest.

Said they wanted to check I knew that I could put £15000 into an ISA and would I like to know about theirs????

    I said yes I knew.

And I didn't think they would match my 3%.

    She agreed!!
