    I made more.
There would need to be HPI of 20% or more for the house to make more.
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

Nope, according to the calculator my 4 bedroom detached made less than my income (Around 49k less)...

Then again, we do live in the North West.

Our place has doubled in value since we bought it three years ago. We'll have the mortgage paid off in another three years, and if it rises by a further 15% by then, we'll have enough for a 30% deposit on a new house outside the city, stick £20,000 into our investments and savings... and outright purchase a 10-acre hobby farm in Canada for our summers. :D

Happiness tinged with guilt over the people not yet on the ladder.
Q: What kind of discussions aren't allowed?
A: It goes without saying that this site's about MoneySaving.

Q: Why are some Board Guides sometimes unpleasant?
A: We very much hope this isn't the case. But if it is, please make sure you report this, as you would any other forum user's posts, to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.

I think the Smileys on the poll (at least the ones for existing homeowners) are the wrong way round. when owning a house can pay more than a good job, it is a sign that something is seriously wrong with how our economy is structured

People like easy money though. There's nothing like getting something for doing nothing and that's all uncontrolled hpi is.

Certainly no for me, but the calculator does place HPI as bigger than LR results on another thought.

You don't get something for nothing.

In return for the easy money, you get to keep your kids living with you until they are middle aged and only popping out sprogs the wrong side of 40, by which time you are too old to really appreciate grandchildren.

On the flip side however, at least you get to moan on various internet fora that your progeny buy too many ipods and you wish you could get rid of them.......
