I am a happy EDF Online Customer - electricity only. You may like to know that I have just signed up to a price fixing deal fixed till 2017 at an additional £4 a month on my £26 a month bill.

No, you've signed up to a long term fix at a fixed kWh rate. If you use more kWh than estimated, then your DD will increase above £30pm.
In the meantime, you are paying 15% more than before at a time of year when prices are stable. It's no more than an insurance policy, and an expensive one.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
What unit charge and what standing charge ???.
That additional £4 a month is based on what your previous usage .0 -
A 15.38% increase. Clearly, you don't think that Labour is going to get in at the next Election and freeze energy prices. I did look at the 2017 deal back in April and discarded it as an option. I then switched before EDF brought out their 2015 fix. As you are with EDF, you can at least kick this tariff into the long grass without any financial penalty. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I would nt go more than a years fix. With the ammount of fracking gas exports by the US prices may even go down, certainly Extra Energy seem to be able to offer as low as 3.3p per kwhr in my area of S.Yorks. The small suppliers seem to be pushing the big 6 to lower prices in the way that Aldi and Lydl have done with Tesco0
