Just spent 3 hours going through all my email accounts and unsubscribing to retail/shopping emails (While its great to get 2 pairs of shoes for the price of 1 they are not a necessity...and i already have about 50 pairs too many anyway) all these unsubbed emails have also been added to an auto delete junk folder...so good bye temptation!
Brilliant idea, SOMam . I just did the same with Facebook.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
Hi all
SOMam - I did the exact same thing the other day, used to have about 20 a day of offers, payday specials etc, now on about 1 a day that is being unsubscribed from as they come in!! I also don't do much in terms of social media (eg Facebook) so I don't see too many new handbag / holiday / brand new car pictures to provoke the consumer in me! Well done to you for taking that step!
Today's DFW things:
1. Have cancelled my Tesco delivery for Weds as cupboards still pretty happy, so set up a meal plan and need to pop to the shop for a few extra bits (£13.83) for the week so a nice little saving!!
2. Cleaned a few rooms using up some of the boat load of cleaning sprays in the house!
3. Downloaded a couple of free Kindle books, stocking up for my holiday next month
4. Sorted my envelope budgeting system (I am new to this!) and having a bit of a go at this!
5. I have 2 meals out next week so have checked the menu's online and noted what I will be having and will only take that amount & enough for a drink with me to save overspending and overeating!
S xI have enough money for the rest of my life... as long as I never have to pay for anything again!

Thank you! I have a MAJOR soft spot for shoes...
OK it's more like a desire to wear gorgeous footwear....
OK, OK I am addicted to buying shoes!!....the daily emails for shoes just had to go!!!
I am also going to get my boyfriend to add my danger sites (next, kurt geiger, etc) to my firewall blacklist and he will password it so I cant even access the sites...I'm in this for the long haul!

Your whole post brightened up my day, but I particularly love this!
Me -
I like DFW weekends, because when we entertain ourselves whilst spending little/no money, it's great.
* OH & I fell asleep in front of a YouTube film. Cheap Friday night
* OH made a home-made bird table! Very quick, simple & cheap Saturday DIY project. It looks great. Now to wait for the birds...
* Spot cleaned the piggie cage several times & took photos to post on piggie forum :embarasse My cheap Saturday entertainment
* Researched vaccinations :eek: Never again
* We wanted to do something to commemorate the centenary of WW1, but nothing grabbed us. Perhaps next weekend/this Wednesday
* Bought a George Foreman grill :embarasse I know this is NOT a step forward to the DFW ideal, but my excuse is: my debts are all 0% and I am starting my new job in 2 weeks... I did feel guilty.
* On the other hand, it made some healthy wraps for tea.
* Delicious, cheap, homemade salad for lunch. Using up the last of last week's shop
* Found a local farm that I would like to start buying organic meat from once I start earning :embarasse
* Lowered price of laptop on Gumtree
* £55 on food shopping. Going to try and make this last 2 weeks... Discovered the Morrisons next to Aldi always have reductions/grocery seconds on their fresh food, wonder why :cool:
* Removed the awful carpet from our room & swept our new bedroom floor! Saves using the hoover/electric
* Rearranged some furniture in our room, looking so much more spacious now & fulfils redecoration need, without spending money!
* Ironing, laundry, washing floors, blah blah blah
Left to do -
* Sew my dress up!
* Put the carpet in cellar/loft/freecycle
* Phone & switch appointments
* Check my account to see if my mum's transfer went in
* Check OH's account to verify WTC payments, and update the spreadsheet of how much I owe him
* Phone/write RE tax credits overpayment
* Phone chasing up where my tax refund is
* Post pension transfer form
* Check last couple of mobile phone bills, phone up and get wrong internet charges refunded
* Start court proceedings against old landlord
* Get Vinted refunds0
