More good jobs done this afternoon;
Cancelled Amazon Prime - wife took it out for 'trial' then forgot to cancel - I can't say anything though as I did exactly the same a couple of years ago :rotfl:
However £57 is to be refunded to her CC - which is an unexpected bonus as I thought we'd have to keep it until it expired next year!
Cancelled Tesco Delivery Saver - when we were struggling for cash earlier in the year we did a lot of online shopping and most of it straight onto the CC :eek: - Even took out this delivery saver thing but we've maybe used it 2/3 times - waste of cash! Another £6 a month saved.Overdraft #1 £1300; Overdraft #2 £400; CC#1 £7258; CC#2 £978; CC#3 £812; CC#4 £330; Car Finance £6000;

Just got back from the car boot sale - made £106!!! Woo!! :T:beer:
Now deciding whether we can be bothered to get up again tomorrow morning and do another one as the cash is going towards spending money for our week away next week!Overdraft #1 £1300; Overdraft #2 £400; CC#1 £7258; CC#2 £978; CC#3 £812; CC#4 £330; Car Finance £6000;

Well done on the car boot cash! We keep meaning to do a car boot but never seem to get round to it!
We too are aiming for a debt free 2016 (although I'm afraid have rather more debt than you!:o), I love the idea of focusing on the Rio Olympics as a goal!!
Wishing you all the best on your journey! :beer:Total Starting Debt August 2014- £38,061

Thanks PinkPoppies! As a huge sports nut I figured using the Olympics as my goal would be good as the media love a big countdown so hopefully will keep me focused!! Well that's the theory of course!!
I'd so recommend a car boot - we took SO MUCH STUFF!! It was a bit ridiculous actually however we sold it cheap so shifted SOOO much which was just as pleasing to be honest!
Still never ceases to amaze me what people haggle over though!! :TOverdraft #1 £1300; Overdraft #2 £400; CC#1 £7258; CC#2 £978; CC#3 £812; CC#4 £330; Car Finance £6000;

Yeah, I think I'm a bit scared of car boots to be honest! We used to be dragged along to lots as children but these days I have no idea what to ask for things and hear stories of people rifling through stuff as you are trying to get it out of the car...
Tonnes we could car boot here, probably need to man up and just do it!Total Starting Debt August 2014- £38,061

Yeah we did have people rooting through our stuff as we were unpacking. It's like "just give us 10mins to setup, the bargains won't go anywhere" :rotfl:
Our theory is always sell stuff cheap and don't take it home as it's stuff you don't want. Seems to work for us as we always make over £70.
Get yourself doing one - you'll love* it!

Well done on the car boot it will be a massive boost for when you go away !! The last boot sale I did was terrible only made £31 but still planning another one in next week or so as that was way back in April. I just seem so busy its hard to fit it all in.

Today I will be mostly not being a good MSE!
Special day for me and my wife so heading out for the day WITHOUT CHILDREN!!! :dance:
It rarely happens these days as the two youngest aare at that age where your social life disappears - so I think we're both a bit giddy today haha!
We're heading to a nearby city and we're going to eat at our favourite bistro which we used to go to regulalry. Thinking about cinema tonight but in all likelihood we'll probably not bother going as there isn't much on - this is a bit MSE as in the past we probably would have gone to see any old rubbish. However I think we're leaning towards just saving the cash instead.
Sensible eh?!!
Hope you all have a good day :cool:Overdraft #1 £1300; Overdraft #2 £400; CC#1 £7258; CC#2 £978; CC#3 £812; CC#4 £330; Car Finance £6000;

Stumbled across your diary and will subscribe
I totality sympathise with the 'we work hard and earn well but are still up to our eyes in it' feeling - same here!! makes me feel:mad: at times as we are not extravagant - dont need latest gadgets or follow the latest trends or drive expensive cars - although we eat well, pay our bills, keep our children healthy and a roof over our heads and still we find ourselves in a similar debt! I think for years it was head in the sand stuff - employed and earning so we can pay this off at some time.............:(
I like your Rio 'self challenge' I do similar things now to motivate myself. So when I heard it was 100 days to the Scottish Vote I thought well I will pay an extra £1 a day to a CC for a 100 days..........so I have stuck to it and havent noticed it in the purse or the bank balance but hopefully when the Scots decide I will have paid off an extra £100 to the Debt :rotfl:
I have made the assumption that you have retrained as a teacher??? Well whatever it is good luck with the new job! You will find lots of help/ideas/support and fun ( oh yes hammering down your debts can be fun) on these threads. Have a look at some of the challenges too - some are scary:eek: but most are just a bit of fun. One thing is for sure the journey to Debt Freedom is a roller coaster one - there will be lots of highs and lows but hang on tight and you w;)ill get there - even with your eyes shut sometimesBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi
