Web hosting

hi,

i am currently building a website for a club i am in and am nearing the end of the developement. I would now like put it on the web to test the mechanics of it - done on dreamweaver so it better work - and to allow club members to critique it, have their say and add the info i need from them.

I have only used a free host before offering very basic services - little storage and bandwidth - i would like to register a domain (i know the one i want is available) and have the site hosted, i would also like approx 20-30 pop3 email addresses. we don't need a lot of storage space or bandwidth as we are not expecting to have a particularly busy website. just one to convey info to current and prospective members. maybe a small forum.

what are the best value for money sites to offer this? do all companies charge for the year up front? how much should i be paying?

I use hostgator. Their "Baby" package costs £5 per month (charged monthly, not anually). They are very reliable, and good quality. I have tried many other hosts, and this one has been the best so far.

  • I use a great free host, they are better then paid hosts. http://www.110mb.com then you can buy a domain and link them.
2GB space and 100GB yes 100GB bandwidth. Then you can use Windows Live or GMail custom domain email addresses.

So you buy the domain address at £4 for 2 years of .co.uk and thats all you pay of course if you want people to sign up and to request a new password you have to pay a small fee of $5.
  • 110mb sounds too good to be true.

    will give them a shot.

No really I though it was a scam but its not, they are really good, they listen to their members so if you want a frature they will look into it for you.
  • I'dRecomend you buy the Domain at 123Reg. Then Buy hosting at another place... If the host is BAD you can Point the Domain Nameservers to a new Host. But if you buy it all off 1 Company & you want to MOVE, then its harder...

    I've used http://www.i-websolutions.co.uk/hosting.php for many years. Lowest they sell is £16.09 a Year (100mb / 2GB Traffic / 100 Pop3) & the Support & Uptime is GREAT.

I have about 5 plans with them (for my Clients) & there have been no issues to date.
