How can I be more energy efficient?

Weather compensation is where you have a temperature sensor outdoors (not in direct sunlight, which gives false readings), as well as a temperature sensor indoors (NOT the click-on click-off thermostat, which does not report actual temperature).
You set the temperature you want the house to be, and the boiler computer works out how to maintain the set temperature in the most efficient manner, which usually means keep condensing as much as possible.
Obviously, not all boilers have this, but the ones that do are not noticeably more expensive.
Thanks for explaining that. Changing our boiler is out of hte question, it' fairly new and we can't afford a new one unless the cost saving was huge to ofset it, which it won't be in this case.0 -

The answer to that is yes it should be on a timer, this will help save energy. The question then is how much time do we need it on, and when?
We’ve got lots of handy tips on our website for saving energy, we also have a quiz about it.

It on all depends on your life style, that’s something you’ll need to decide.

Thanks Amy. I've just set it to the timer, and on auto. I think that's right? I couldn't find a thermometer on the tank as suggested in a previous post. I hope it's right. I've put it on two hours in the morning and two in the late afternoon, early evening. I don't know if this will be enough or not, I guess we'll see if we run out and increase it if we do.
I think I'm on the best tariff for the moment. Last time when I fixed the price it was ok, and Eon have been pretty good on the whole, so as long as they remain competitive I'll stay.0
