Post Office not giving advertised BT fee.

in Credit cards
I applied for a Post Office credit card earlier this week and was accepted. I made a balance transfer as part of the application process and this has gone through.
HOWEVER - I've just received my card and the T&C's state that the balance transfer rate fee is 2.98% rather than the 0.7% that I was expecting. Unfortunately I didn't capture any of the application screens at the time so I can't check the details of the application but they were definitely still advertising the 0.7% rate when I applied
Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I remember a few years ago with a card whose name I don't remember that you had to click a button to let them know you wanted to benefit from a promotional BT rate. Otherwise you got the normal (more expensive) rate. Seems daft but there you go.
I wonder if something similar happened to you.Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

If you look on their site http://www.postoffice.co.uk/landingpage/credit-card-ppc/?campaignid=PPC_CC&tmad=c&tmcampid=153&tmplaceref=Brand_-_Credit_Cards_-_Exact&tmclickref=postoffice_credit_card at the moment they are still saying:0% balance transfers for the first 18 months with our lowest balance transfer fee of 0.7%. Balance transfers must be made within three months of account opening. To qualify for the 0.7% fee you must apply before 31st July 2014
It may be that you didnt qualify for this product and they offered you a different product instead. Ultimately call them to see what they say0 -
Many providers just produce and send you 'standard' T&Cs. For any special promotions (especially % BT fee refunds/discounts) there's generally only the website and maybe a separate promotional detail insert. I wouldn't worry if I was you...just make the BT. There's enough evidence around to challenge them if they don't abide by the promised rate.jamesperrett wrote: »HOWEVER - I've just received my card and the T&C's state that the balance transfer rate fee is 2.98% rather than the 0.7% that I was expecting.
That was MBNA, and applied to promotional rates for existing customers outside their introductory period.Fruit_and_Nut_Case wrote:I remember a few years ago with a card whose name I don't remember ...0 -

Thanks for that - I just assumed that the page would no longer exist. I've just copied all the documents from that page and, interestingly, the summary box also quotes the 2.98% rate. Just wondering what other people's documentation says?0 -

Yes, applied by phone for the 0.7% and was declined I have an excellent credit rating about which I checked with experian
The post office have since written regarding the decline of my application asking me to sign and date the documents to be returned in order for them to look at it
Guess what the transfer fee is now 2.98% the've got no chance
My guess is the demand was that high they have stalled some applications until after the expiry date for the offer!0 -

Experian's opinion of you means nothing given they are not a lender. You don't have an excellent credit rating as credit ratings do not exist.0 -

Read YorkshireBoy's post above. It's common for the "standard" rate of 2.98% to be in all of the normal T+Cs, and for the promotional rate of 0.7% to be in the promotional T+Cs.
If you have doubts, I suggest you phone them and ask them to confirm whether you've got the promotional rate or not.0 -
Finally got confirmation that the BT is at the promotional rate by looking at the online balance. There's nothing else in writing though.0

Same here - disappointing when over the last few years have done so many balance transfers faultlessly. Post Office is the first to screw up!0 -
My wife applied for this card on 30 July, but the balance transfer has only gone through today due to delays at their end. However it seems a 2.98% fee has been applied. Having reviewed the documentation we have the T&Cs do state 2.98% but I'm hoping they'll listen to reason given all the promotion on their website and in the wider internet said 0.7% for card applications before 31 July...
Anyone else had a similar problem? If I had a pound for every time I didn't play the lottery...0
