My self emplyment has gone down and down and things aren't looking to improve in the foreseeeable future.
My mum has been helping me out with rent recently and we agreed I'd see if things look up after a few months and if not I will look for part time work to cover my short fall.
We aren't sure though if my WTC will be affected? I think I read a long time ago I could still work part time and not have it be affected but I have to do my research again and the rules might have changed since the good old tories have been in.
Can anyone enlighten me please?
I would like to work the smallest amount I can to cover my shortfall which is around £80 per week so that I'm still able to work on my business.
I also currently claim housing benefit and from the calculators I figured you can get around £80 a week without the taper for eanrings coming into effect.

Tax credits work on tax year income. You need to be working the required number of hours to qualify and, unless your part time income will take this years total income to over £5k more than 13/14 income, then there is no impact to your tax credits
Housing benefit will look at your total income from tax credits, self employed income and earned income to assess whether you qualify. As you are currently self employed I assume you update them regularly with your income which you will likely need to continue to do. If your total income from the 3 sources of income come to around £75 per week you should get full housing benefit (up to your LHA rate if in private rented) anything over that will reduce your housing benefit0
