Hi there,

Any ideas would be great as I really have no experience of this. We have an area which we are going to part gravel /part turf the area is 6m x 8m. We currently only rent this property so we are trying to keep costs to a mimnimun. We are hopeing to buy this house in a year or two thats why we are bothering incase you wondered.

I've been looking for turf and it looks like a smaller local company will probably be cheaper, but I have no idea about he gravel I've been reading loads and I'm only confusing myself.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Thanks on advance

Donna

Generally the more you have delivered the cheaper it is (transport costs). Do you know anyone nearby who share a load?

  • be sure and get largeish gravel eg pink pebbles or similar. or you might find all the neighbourhood cats using it as a toilet!!

Look for cubic metre bags of 20 mm gravel. Best try your local builders merchant first as they can often be cheaper than the big DIY sheds.

Wow. If I had a house to rent, I'd want you renting it! :)

If you're patient and have suitable transport available, excess gravel seems to come up cheap locally on ebay. Buying (way) too much seems quite common. Mind you tonne bags probably don't help.
