Millenium oak has gone bonkers this year, suddenly looks like a 30-year plus tree[ditto walnut and eucalyptus, but they pose no problem].

I'd like to remove lower branches, currently just above waist height, to those above head height.

Is this wise, right in the heart of summer? If so, what protective coating over the 'wound'?

Thankyou for any advice.

I would wait till September. Still warm & dry enough, hopefully, for the wounds to dry and heal.

Tree expert in my local magazine said protective poultices and potions are a 'waste of time.' As I don't use them, I have to agree!

Thankyou dn - rather my own persuasion finally.
Failing any answers here, mentioned on another thread that current thinking runs with your local chap's.
I'll tinker no more for a few weeks:-)

I am in contact with a local nursery, they cover all major prunings with a hot melt/wax material, I go with that, the plant tries to seal the major wound, why not help it?
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
