    I presume this customer of theirs must have put down a deposit for the dealer to be willing to travel 200 miles... Can't believe people buy cars without knowing anything about them.

    Yeah, if an eventual buyer does pay in cash then I'll be taking them with me to the bank to deposit it. Not risking fake notes.

    A lot of dealers specialise in one marque and get known as people who can source cars. We once went to one as we couldn't find what we wanted locally. We gave them a month to come up with one, they sourced one, we bought it with their limited warranty.
    OK, they take a cut, but they also take a risk re the waranty.

    I doubt they'll go to the bank with you to deposit the cash! Would be unreasonable to expect them to.
    it's easy and inexpensive to check cash nowadays

    That's what I do, it's strange how some folks thinks cash talks, I'd always prefer a bank transfer than cash.

    The last two cars I sold they did, once it passes the till and they return the credit slip, it's the bank's responsibilty.
    I have seen stories where some branches won't take counter deposits over a set amount.
