Mortgage: Credit Score and Saving Accounts

I am planning to apply for a mortgage at the end of September and I was wondering if applying for Saving Accounts can reduce credit score. I know that many applications for Current accounts could potentially reduce a credit score for a couple weeks/months perhaps, but what about saving accounts? It is not like you can have an overdraft on a saving account, so how would that reduce your attractiveness to the lender?
Here is what I recently done in terms of bank accounts recently:
-I converted an existing Lloyds current account into Club Lloyds account. Not sure if a credit check was done.
-I applied for a Tesco eSaver account and got approved. Also not sure if a credit check was done.
Now I am considering to open an eSaver account with Santander. I am already an existing customer with them and want to take a mortgage with them. Would they run a credit check to open this savings account for me? I am not sure, but since I want to apply for a mortgage at the end of September, then I don't want to do anything that would reduce my credit score. Of course, if I apply today, then by the time I apply for a mortgage already 2 months would pass anyway.
I would appreciate if someone that understands credit scores/resports let me know what they would have done in my position.

AFAIK, any normal kind of savings account would not be covered by the consumer credit act as it offers no form of credit facility and as such would not be reported on the credit file as a credit application. Probably there would be a softer search such as identity check / administrative review (akin to the sort of footprint you get when searching for insurance)0
