TicketMaster Ireland & Garth Brooks?

On the flip side, you *could* have got very lucky if the exchange rate had gone the other way. In that case, would you have been happy if you'd paid €100 but only got €85 back because it was the same sterling value? Maybe you would, but I'll bet there's another concertgoer on here who would have been posting to complain if that happened!
I think it's rotten luck TBH, but unless you had insurance I can't see how anyone else would be liable.0 -

I don't think Ticketmaster would have allowed the flip side to happen and effect them, maybe I'm wrong but I'd doubt it... plus they would have company insurance to cover their losses. Normal concert going fans don't take out Insurance to go to a concert unless it's part of a holiday or something. It is rotten luck and I'm not sure anyone is liable either. I personally think in the future Ticketmaster shouldn't be allowed to sell tickets to concerts that don't have a proper license as the customer shouldn't be the financial looser when the organisers mess up.0 -
I can't be sure but I don't think Ticketmaster in the UK would sell tickets for an event that hadn't been granted a licence. I read somewhere that this is something that happens regularly in Ireland, so perhaps your argument is with whoever the regulator there is. I also think Garth Brooks should take some of the blame for throwing a hissy fit when he couldn't do more concerts than had been agreed in the first place - seems to me he thinks rather more of the profits than he does of his fans (I am most definitely not one of them!).0

LOL I'm not a fan either, I was just going for the craic and atmosphere of an 80,000 seater concert... but yes I agree with you. Ireland's laws are a bit messed up when it comes to this, They simply should not be allowed to sell 400,000 tickets for a 5 night concert in a residential area without a license.
If I knew at the time of booking they didn't have a license and the concerts were "subject to license" (which it did not mention anywhere, only on the posted tickets months after booking), I would not have bought any and certainly would not have booked a Hotel for 6 people.
The time and money people wasted on this is ridiculous and I think Garth himself showed very little sympathy to those fans or just general concert goers who were left worse off. I personally think someone somewhere has made a small fortune from these ticket sales / 6 month balance.0 -

With the bank rates stinking as they do, and with all the costs the promoter will have had to pay out to the Garth Brook camp, venues, all the team, I'd be more likely to consider it a significant loss, not a small fortune!0 -
UK festival licences are often not granted until very shortly before the event.
They sometimes have conditional licences but often the conditions are not met until late on.
I heard on the Radio (4) that the council had licensed it, but not the full 5 nights, two were to be in the afternoon - that was weeks ago.0
