Financial disassociation - how often do companies send info to Experian?

Hi all,

I've just signed up for a 30 day trial with Experian so that I can sort my credit file and make sure all links to my ex partner are removed.

We separated in Feb 2012 and neither of us have lived there since, though he has never changed his address (whole other story!). We finally sold the house on 18th July which settled our mortgage. I then closed our old joint bank account on 24th July, which was the final joint link.

All the companies seem to update Experian once a month, does that sound right? I just need/want to know when the balances will become settled as currently they're not up to date.

I've emailed Experian today to ask to be disassociated from my ex but I'm unsure if they can do this until the mortgage company and bank send new info - is that right?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

(Also, I'm going to register with Equifax and Noddle to do the same, but I might as well wait a few weeks and see how long this takes with Experian first)

Yes lenders usually only send a monthly update.
So it can occasionally take just over a month to update (if you settle just a couple of days before the monthly update it sent to the credit ref agencies).

They won't action the disassociation until after the accounts show as settled, so you may need to send a new form/email.

Thanks for confirming Tixy, I thought that might be the case.

Fingers crossed I can get it in before my free 30 day trial ends... :)
