Effect of Travel Insurance Claims on Premiums Elsewhere

Hi there,
I was considering making a small claim on my travel insurance with MSE-recommended company Holidaysafe. This claim would probably be worth £50-100 to me after excess.
I am concerned, however, that making this claim may affect the cost of home insurance or car insurance later in my life (I am 19 at the moment and have no long-term insurance policies to my name).
Could anybody please enlighten me as to whether I should be concerned or whether independent travel insurance policies are somehow isolated from 'the system'?
Thanks in advance!

'The system' is CUE and as with all classes of insurance, some insurers subscribe to it and some dont.
Ultimately it would depend on what the claim is for and what question your future insurers ask.
Typically motor is always going to be safe as you have to declare "incidents" anyway so if you had a car accident and your travel insurance bundles in CDW for hire cars then you'd have to declare the accident irrespective of if you made a claim for the car hire excess or not.
Home you may find you need to declare a claim for personal possessions on travel insurance but that again depends on the exact question asked. Some only ask about other Home Claims in which case it doesnt need to be declared. Others are starting to ask about incidents so again it needs to be declared claimed for or not.
Things like delay, medical treatment, curtailment etc wont have to be declared on other policies.0 -
