Ee rbroadband

Hi I bought Ee broadband in May. When the box arrived it didn't work and I rang them they told me it maybe due to the fact activation takes 4 weeks.waited that time and was told to do numerous tests and they would call back. No one rang back and I emailed them to no response. Finally at the start of July I rang them again and they wanted me to do 6-8 troubleshooting techniques. Did this and they diagnosed the original router faulty. Sent me a new one I got last week and still didn't work. So they sent out a engineer yesterday and told me that as I've had no usage since May due to their error the engineer charged is 'free' and they'll give me 2 months broadband free . When the engineer came out had just spent 60 minutes telling me hoe rubbish Ee adsl was and it would be slow . Obviously if I'd known this in may I could have cancelled it in 14 days but as it's passed that now Ee won't let me. Furthermore the engineer said to me I'm getting below the speed limit and both the Ee boxes inc replacement box are faulty so he had to go pick one up and use that and then he tells me that is recommended I should speak to Ee. Ee are useless and just tell me I can pay 35 pound and upgrade. When It was their fault originally what are my consumer rights? The internet struggles to load one website :(

What exactly did you sign up for compared to what you're getting?

The speeds quoted are often maximum speeds and actual speeds will vary so that may not be reason alone to cancel. I presume EE work in the same as BT (as opposed to virgin)?

We had no end of problems with EE broadband, as it was slow and forever crashing out.

Our phones are fine, but we would never use their BB again,

We've used BT for 5 years, and although it might be more expensive, it's speedy and efficient.

Best to get out of the contract as soon as you can.

All broadband suppliers must specify average speeds achieved by their clients, and I think they may also have to do so based on clients with similar profiles to you (such as distance from exchange or cabinet). They are not allowed anymore to specify only maximum speeds.
  • Hi we'll they told us the speed would be 'good' but after speaking to them today they said they have checked and can see our speed is fluctuating so they'll send a engineer out
