Can't go on a booked holiday

Hi This is a long shot but here goes.
Booked a holiday probably over 6 months but paid the final balance of around £900 in the last three months with a credit card. The holiday is with Thomsoms. My wifes mother was rushed into hospital on Monday and its basically a matter of time god love her. The holiday starts 11.08.14 and we clearly can't go as we have the funeral to arrange that will take place in Southern Ireland. Our annual holiday insurance ran out last week as I thought I would renew next week.
I'm thinking chalk this one off given the stress we are currently under or does any one think I can recoup anything.

I don't think you can recover anything unfortunately, but sending thoughts.

It's going to be a difficult decision to go or not, insurance or otherwise.

Thomson may let you change it for a fee, but check the small print.
Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.
  • It might not work, but why not send a polite letter to Thomsons explaining exactly what is happening and ask them if a full or partial refund will be considered or if not, would it be possible to rebook the holiday for sometime in the future. (it might be worth stating that you would be more than happy to pay the administration costs involved in any change).

Do you have any cover for insurance via your bank account? Even your credit card may offer some sort of insurance.

    Worth asking.
