ive a 04 focus in blue that ive had for 7 years. its done 100k and been serviced twice a year.

mechanically its sound but the bodywork is starting to go. the rear arches are going but not bad, i can live with that.

was is shocking is the bottom of the drivers door, the full bottom is bubbling and rusting. the pasenger door is fine.

ive done some googling and people say as theres a 12 year warranty on the body work ford will do it? as only one door has gone it looks like the sealing is to fault?

has anyone has any luck in getting ford to repair?

Do you have the bodywork stamps in the book?

Whats the bodywork warranty on your vehicle? It varies between 5 and 10 years usually.

My 2001 Mondeo was 10 years, My 2004 car is 5 years.

They won't do it, the bodywork warranty is too restrictive- it has to be penetration from within the panel that has happened in spite of being treated at each annual (very expensive) check.

It could even be because the panel has been sprayed following an accident before you had it.

i think they increased the bodywork warranty from 10yrs to 12yrs after 2001.
it has to be penetration from within the panel

thats what i think has happened and although it hasnt had the bodywork stamp its still a fault. there hasnt been any repair work done to the door i think as i got it 3 years old and it would have been obvious.

You will need full service history for the warranty to be valid still.

Most Fords have rusty door bottoms regardless of age.

Bottom of my doors have a nice thick layer of hammerite on :)

They did do mine a few years ago on a 6 year old Fiesta.

The Ford approved body shop I took it to at first didn't want to know, but did take a few photos to send to Ford. They told me it would be a waste of time as Ford would reject it. However Ford didn't reject it and went ahead with the repair.

Took nearly 2 weeks for the work to be done, but got a free courtesy car for the 2 weeks.

Only one way to find out then- take it to a Ford dealer and ask.

12 years guarantee does rather beg the question "How come KA's newer than that are as rotten as pears?"

Let us know how you get on.
