DFS: pushy salesman and returns

Please excuse any mistakes as English is my second language.
Hi, three weeks ago I went to DFS to buy a sofa bed. When I decided with sofa I want- I took a quick look at a coffee tables as well. When the salesman noticed my small interest in the tables- he started pushing me to buy one.
I told him, that I need some small table as I'm buying sofa bed for every day use as a bed, so the table will need to be moved out of the way every day. He replied: "That's not a problem! For £15 extra, we will fit some special mechanism to table legs, so the table will be very easy to move". I asked him, if this will work on my shaggy carpet so he replied: "This works on any surface". After this reassures- I bought the table
Today, when the table was delivered- I was shocked. The small coffee table I've bought- weighs 40kg! when average coffee table weighs under 20kg. Due to its weigh, the table is not as easy to move as the salesman was ensuring me. And in short time might ruin my carpet. The weigh info was not displayed anywhere.
I've rung DFS, told them above and said, that I want to return the table. The store manager told me, that it does not matter what salesman told me. They don't care for what purpose their customers buy a furniture. He said, that I bought the table in the store and I can not return it.
How does it work? I was clearly misled by the salesman. If he didn't tell me what told- I wouldn't bought this table. I thought that as a customer I have a right to return an item within some period of time.
What should I do now?
