DWP want me to close ESA claim

Hi
Been contacted by DWP advising that I can close my ESA claim and continue to get PENSION CREDIT ( I currently receive just my NI cont as i have had my total ESA Contributory Benefits of One year )
I retire next year and have checked my Pension Forecast which is fine
I have checked with Pension Credit who have confirmed as I don't get ESA topped up with Pension Credit anymore there should be no problem with closing the ESA claim, they also say that a NI cont. will be awarded anyway until my retirement date Has anyone been through this.
I am being very cynical about this especially as the DWP are saying that by closing the ESA case I will not have to take part in Work Related activities or have a medical assessment which sounds good to me

you need 30 years ni contributions for a full state pension.
once you have the 30 years, there is no point in getting any more as they add nothing to your pension.

The above is correct. You could have just claimed PC from when you turned 60 without bothering with ESA.0

its 62 or 63 at the moment for pension credit.
the age of entitlement is rising at the same rate as the state pension age for women
