Private Eye Parking Notice Charge Aberdeen

Hi
I am unsure if the law has changed in Scotland, I cannot seem to find anything recent on the MSE page regarding private parking fines in Scotland.
I have received a fine for £85 for parking 2hr 58 mins at Morrisons supermarket. I was only meant to be there for 2hrs max.
Is it illegal for firms to send these fines/invoices??
Someone please advise me
Many thanks!

The stuff below relates to the letter you get after you have already ignored 3 from PE and 2 from Debt Recovery Plus. Their attempts to confuse you into thinking you owe them money become more threatening as it goes through; but as long as you don't contact them you'll be okay.
"DRP's latest attempt to get money up here is PE's offer to accept £108 to avoid court. They are writing to comply with "pre-action protocol" and list extra costs that may be incurred if it goes to court.
The court fee is quoted as £25, but in Scotland an action only costs £17. Maybe Anne Stone should learn about Scottish courts before signing threatograms.
The last paragraph before costs says "if you are liable". RK's reply: Nope, I'm not. I'm the RK , not the driver. And I'm under no legal requirement to name the driver.
Good try DRP, but a total, smegtastic fail.
p.s. as of yesterday there had never been a PE case in a Scottish court. I, and somebody else recently, checked."0 -
so I should reply to none of their letters, including the one detailed above?
thanks0 -
Ignore ignore, ignore. You are in Scotland. No keeper liability. They would have to find driver. How? unless they have very sophisticated facial recognition software similar to that on futuristic tv shows.Newbie thread: go to the top of this page and find these words: Main site > MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > Household & Travel > Motoring > Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking. Is that Morrisons Mounthooly? I've heard people park there then walk down King Street into town and get 5 letters a week. Just ignore or use the letters to wipe your bottom on.0

That's exactly the problem there - people do walk off the site to shop elsewhere or even leave their car all day and go to their work in the nearby offices etc.
Whilst I do not condone such abuses of Morrisons car park there is absolutely zilch that they can do about it with phoney charges and letters.
Ignore all correspondence completely, and it will peter out after several months.
When it was Safeways and initially when Morrisons took over there was a manned barrier and IIRC you had to show your receipt for shopping to exit free.0
