Halifax Total Mortgage Protection Plan. A possible claim?

Hello forum.
Hi everyone I am new here and am looking for some advice.
I bought my first house at the age of 21 (I am now 32) and I had the mortgage with Halifax the whole time from 2004/5 till 2012.
I am struggling finding all the paper work from these years back but I found one piece of paper from 2012 saying I was paying a Total Mortgage Protection Plan of £37 per month.
Being young and naive I just paid whatever and enjoyed life. Now I am a little bit more responsible and money is a lot tighter since the recession I have decided to look into whether I am entitled to a claim for misselling.
The issue is I only have this one piece of paper so far with my 'plan number'. I am also worried that if I make a call I will not be able to answer any details apart from the house details and my personal details.
What do I need to do to start the ball rolling? What info will I need to be armed with?
Thanks in advance.
Russell

The TMPP is a multi-segment policy. Only one of those segments is PPI. The others are life assurance, critical illness and income protection. i.e. not PPI. The PPI segment is also MPPI (which has a low success rate on complaints).
So, first thing is to find out what your policy covers you for. There is no point putting in a PPI complaint on a TMPP that hasnt got PPI.
You also need to decide what your reasons for complaint are and what evidence you may have to support that (evidence is not needed with all complaint reasons but will be with some).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
Don't use this phrase in any complaint, it just indicates you used a template.rjclarke2000 wrote: »Being young and naive
