                    Hi,
Just looking for some advice on Taylor wimpey and late consideration of options?
We stupidly didn't think to haggle on price but they are paying estate agent fees through the help to buy and solicitors fees (using their own solicitor obviously).
We got them to 'upgrade' the kitchen as the standard one we wanted from the brochure apparently wasn't standard when we came to request it. We also get half height wall tiles in wet areas and full tiles in the shower.
We're still considering our options for flooring as we think we can get it cheaper elsewhere and we couldn't afford to put a deposit down on flooring with tw before our sale goes through.
Do we have any room for manouvre on negotiating down on the cost of flooring at this stage with tw? I'm keen to get this resolved as soon as possible as we have a 1 year old and so we need flooring down before we move in. It's hard to get quotes from elsewhere as we don't have dimensions for hall ways, wet areas, stairs.
We can't complain about the service so far, there have been stresses and delays but nothing that is the fault of tw.
Thanks

Did they not give you a copy of the floor plan? We are also buying from TW and when we reserved, one of the first things the salesman did was give us a photocopy of the plan showing the plumbing/electrics (so we could have a think about what extras we wanted to add). The plan also had all the detailed measurements for walls etc. so we've been using that to check flooring options.0

No they showed them to us when we told them what extra electrics we wanted but didn't give us a copy. I was going to ask them for a copy once the exchange with our sale is sorted and we know that we are definitely going ahead.0

If you can get a copy of the floorplan (even a rough one from their website maybe?) then you can take it to carpetright and get a quote once you've exchanged, you should be able to ask the site manager if your carpet fitters can come in and measure properly so that they can order the carpets and book the fitters. If you give them enough notice, they should be able to fit the carpets on completion day once you've exchanged, you should be able to ask the site manager if your carpet fitters can come in and measure properly so that they can order the carpets and book the fitters. If you give them enough notice, they should be able to fit the carpets on completion day if you're really lucky, the builders might let them fit the carpets ahead of time but our builders wouldn't. if you're really lucky, the builders might let them fit the carpets ahead of time but our builders wouldn't.
It will definitely be better to go elsewhere for carpets - we got a lovely deep pile carpet (the builders carpet was thin and nasty) and it was £1000 less than the builders quoted us.
 Hope this helps 0 0

Whilst they will sometimes negotiate on freebies, they won't budge on individual pricing of options. It is too difficult to account for them. If you've already reserved and put down your deposit, it is unlikely pricing will change now.0
