Flybe..airline or theives?

Just looked at booking a flight from Belfast to Aberdeen on the Flybe website.
It gives us the choice of a direct flight at 12.20 or a flight with 1 stop at 4pm. Decided to book the flight with one stop but when it came to booking they want to charge us twice for luggage. £32.
I phone to query this and spoke to a manager who was extremely rude. Basically, even though we're booking one route it's classed as two flights so would go from Belfast to Manchester then Manchester to Aberdeen. Now in Manchester she reckoned that everyone gets off the plane, goes through arrivals, checks in and proceeds through to departures hence the need to pay for luggage twice.
So now I'm wondering how they're getting everyone off the plane getting the luggage to everyone, getting them all checked in and through departures in less than an hour for the next flight??
Is it me??

If you book two flights, they will charge you twice for luggage, if you book the direct flight, you pay once. Its the way Flybe and others work, Ryanair and easyjet would do exactly the same.

Flybe like to consider Manchester as a hub when numerous flights arrive and depart an hour or so later. I am not sure you need to re check in at Manchester since they ought to be able to give you two boarding cards at Belfast for the two flights and check your luggage through as well but the obvious answer, particularly with their usual name of Fly Maybe, would be to book the direct flight

The flights may have AF codes, so perhaps check the total price on Airfrance.com including luggage.

You've booked 2 flights, so you'll pay for 2 lots of luggage. It isn't the same as flights which stop off en route - I know there's sometimes flights from Glasgow which have started off at Belfast but they're not separate flights with separate codes. It is always a concern that you might miss your second flight if you book 2 flights, especially if there's a delay. That's why most people would book the direct flight.

under the old airline rules - its a through journey so wouldn't expect you to get charged twice and in the past wouldn't have expected to get off used to use thier isle of man- bristol serivce which stopped in belfast often didn't get off exepct when delayed

Yes, but this is two separate flights booked as a single journey, which I expect use different planes, so if the OP doesn't get off in Manchester she won't get to Aberdeen at all.

Also have a look at Etihad and Finnair websites, you may be able to book with transfer thrown in.

My sister flew back to Sydney with Finnair, which involved Flybe MAN- HEL, Finnair HEL-SIN, then BA SIN-SYD. She didn't see her luggage, from when I dropped her off at MAN. was Business class fare though

EDIT. Just to let you know, they are run on 2 totally separate planes, the chosen flight you were looking at. Today Belfast to MAN was on a dash 8 turbo prop and the MAN-ABD was on an Emb170 jet.

Also off their website is the following...

8.10 Collection and delivery of checked baggage

8.10.1 Subject to Article 8.6.3, you must collect your Checked Baggage as soon as it is made available at your destination or Stopover. If you fail to collect it within a reasonable time, we may charge you a storage fee.
