    I won, I won, I won!
Well I am back from the museum now. I thought I would offer some feedback as there are bound to be similar competitions in the future. None of the visit had a V.I.P aspect but that did not matter too much. The family ticket would have covered two adults and three children but as I was told it only covered four I took my three grandchildren by myself. There was a Heart tent / gazebo on the car park where I just gave my name and was handed the museum family ticket worth £42.50. I think the Heart part of the prize was over-hyped. We had no priority to go on the singledecker bus to see their equipment. Only a few people could get on at a time so after waiting some time and told it was better to come back later we headed for the museum. This was about 11.30 am. When we returned about 3.15 it had gone.
So we went into the museum and headed for the mine. You have to queue for this. Up to 25 people at a time are taken down into the bottom of the mine. You need sensible shoes on and they supply a hard hat. Despite all the warnings I still managed to hit my head on beams a few times. I am only 5ft tall so taller people need to be quite flexible! It is of course very dark down there so not everybody's cup of tea. I did not really want to go down but children have to be accompanied. I don't know if I was clinging to my two granddaughters or they were clinging to me! It was realistic and interesting but a lot of people, myself included were quite happy to emerge into the sunshine.
The rest of the museum was very interesting. Looking round the houses and shops were probably of more interest to me than the children. The girls enjoyed skipping in the street while their brother was drilled by a soldier. He especially enjoyed running down the street screaming as soldiers are taught to do when attacking. I queued up for about half an hour for the chip shop while they did some schooling in the village school next door. Lovely fish and chips! Then we moved on to the traditional funfair. While there the heavens opened so we decided to call it a day. We all had a very enjoyable day although there was a lot more to do. You can go through the canal tunnels on a barge but I am not active enough to be able to do that. I would recommend a visit there and still do not know who posted this comp to thank them. I hope the other winners enjoyed themselves as well.
