New boiler

Options
I'm having a dispute with the company who fitted my new boiler.
They are not an energy supplier but yesterday they came and cut my gas supply off.
Does anyone know if they are allowed to to do that?

Thanks

Yes, if they decide that a safety issue warrants it.

Thanks for the reply but it's not about safety, it's a financial dispute.

Did you ask them why they did that?

At what point has the gas been cut off? Is it just to the boiler or to the whole house. Did you let them in to do that?

I asked if they were legally allowed to do that and they said yes and hung up, however I'm guessing not as they came and turned it back on an hour ago.

It was cut off from the whole house, from outside when I was out, but they turned it back on today.

Unless there is a safety issue, they can't just turn your gas off. I'd contact Trading Standards.

I would also contact the people who administer the gas lines but for the life of me I cannot remember what they are called (help??!!!) They really should not be tampering with live gas supply lines

You have either tried to pull a fast one on them, with regards to paying and they feel they have done a good job and no issue with it, or you have chosen a bunch of cowboys.

There have been incidences where people have boilers fitted, withhold the payment and keep the saga going so long , that they hope the company will just cave in. By the looks of it, they may have been stung and decided to take you on so you don't go the same way. It is a little unorthodox what they have done, but if they could ' legitimately' show there was a safety issue then their action, wouldn't be classed as 'wrong'.

IMO, they are just Pi***d off with the situation and have taken it in their own hands to force payment. To try and sort it, speak rationally and calmly, be realistic in what you want to achieve, don't throw every little snag in which may be classed as petty and you should sort it out amicably.

I would try to get it sorted quickly, as they have shown what they can do, at the most inconvenient time. Next time could be gas off and quick drying cement in the hole !
