LG 42LB585V magic remote and iplayer issues

Hey all,

I have bought the above TV (a very big reward for myself!) and was playing with the "magic" remote last night.

For some reason the scroll wheel ok button doesnt seem to work. Has anyone else had this issue?
everything else on the remote and the whole of the other remote works fine.

I also cant get iplayer to work at all so im thinking this may be an iplayer issue. has anyone else had this problem?
i player opens, but nothing within the app is selectable. I'm not bothered as i have a PS4 with it on, but it would still be nice to have iplayer without the ps4 if i wanted it (saves electricity to use it on the TV too... so would be very MSE!)

thanks for any help in advance :)

My girlfriend has the same. I'll ask her to check. What exactly do you want her to check.
I've just bought the same, but I haven't connected mine up yet.

Its the scroll wheel mainly (not to worried about iplayer, i think thats just bbc compatibility issues).
Does hers scroll up and down, and can she click the scroll wheel insted of using the OK button on the other remote?

would be interesting to hear about yours when it is set up as well. Fantastic TV's... quality of the product itself and the picture/sound quality is exceptional for a flat screen LED TV. I can honestly forgive the remote problems as its such a lovely TV.

Hope you are happy with yours too when it is set up and thanks for the help!

Indeed we compared the picture quality to the other brands, by using our own Full HD material stored on a USB drive.

She has last year's model, the 578, whilst I have this year's model. She doesn't have issues with the iPlayer. So perhaps better to wait until mine is set up.

The LG was the only one that looked as it should with the media shot outdoors. The others looked unrealistic.

Will ask her to check this evening.

When i popped in to buy mine they all had the same HD material playing on them all so i didnt worry about chucking my own materail on it. Made it easy to compare between models that way although i was pretty set on the LG before i even went in :rotfl:

I dont know why LG isnt more popular. They produce exceptional products and give the likes of samsung et all a really good run for their money whilst taking less of ours! haha (a comparable model from samsung would have been an extra £100!)

Thanks to both of you for your help, its greatly appreciated.

She was set on a Samsung, until she saw the picture quality of the LG with our material. The Magic Remote was just a bonus and now she won't be without it. I think the other Remote is still wrapped in plastic.

The normal remote is nothing special. i can see it finding a place on the shelf haha

I had a similar problem, bought the TV from PC World about 6 months ago, (different model but with the Magic remote), phoned them and explained the problem, was told that he had not heard of this problem with a Magic remote, but would send out a replacement, it was delivered 2 days later.

So I suggest contacting the retailer who sold it to you as it is faulty.

I got a 42 inch LG last year (LA740 I think). I thought the magic remote was great for the first couple of weeks, then it's been sat in a drawer since then. Just tested it and the scroll wheel and ok button both work on iplayer and everywhere else, so could just be a faulty one.
Have noticed with the iplayer that it seems to take longer to be available on the smart screen than Amazon prime which I also use. Some sort of initialising delay ?? But other than having to wait a few more seconds, the iplayer works fine on my LG tv. They did update it a few months ago - is there any system update required? I was thinking of a Samsung as well, but I decided to get 3d as there were a few films I liked available on 3d, and the Samsung is active 3d, LG is passive - less demanding on the eyes.
