Buying perfume online...

I bought two bottles of perfume from a certain website. When I tried them I noticed they were weak and lasted no more than 10 minutes. These happen to be eau de parfum, but in all honesty I had scented shower gels that lasted longer. I bought the perfumes after testing them in store and loving them.
Anyway, I contact customer service, and they tell me I can pay postage to return the products and have them tested by the company. If they decide that nothing is wrong with them, I will have to pay postage (again) to get them back.
Now I don't want the company to end up losing money because I returned opened perfume, but their way of solving the problem is strange. Of course they will conclude that nothing is wrong with the perfume after the alleged testing and I will end up with a bigger loss.
Should I just accept the initial loss and move on? And is this the way other companies deal with such an issue? This is the first time I buy perfume online and I think it will be the last.
Thanks

have you been back in to store to user the testers to see if the same time issue is there? Its most likely a trait of the product.
If you don't want them to lose money, but then you don't want to do as they ask, what exactly should they do?0 -
Did you buy it from a reliable website?
(I.e. There are lots of fakes out there...)
You can only do as they request, or pay for your own independent report.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Ask the manufacturer if they're legit or not? It could, for instance, be fake, genuine but diluted, or the real thing and after application you stop noticing and tune the smell out.
Diluted is quite easy, 5L of perfumers alcohol is under £30 on Amazon, so top up a quarter bottle and tada! Done!0 -
Is this ebay?0

I buy online from The Perfume Shop, and they are fine, but probably best not to buy from somewhere like EBay.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

Are you sure they lasted that long?
Back to the problem, it was a website for selling cosmetics not eBay.If you don't want them to lose money, but then you don't want to do as they ask, what exactly should they do?
I want them to do what they are required to do by law, and because I don't know what that is, I'm asking people on this forum. If they don't have to refund or replace an opened perfume, then fine, I will accept that.
Above all, I want to hear from someone who had a similar experience with a perfume they bought online and didn't like.0 -
Have you contacted the manufacturers of the perfumes? Let's say you bought Coco Chanel, so in that case finding chanel uk online and calling their customer services line. They will tell you in a heartbeat if the shop is a legit stockist or not, and probably give you some clues to determine if the goods are fake. Then you can talk to the seller saying 'you sold me fake coco, chanel say it is, money back please'.0

Having once bought fake perfume myself- but got a full refund I can only suggest you seriously google this company.also look on companies house to see their Statius. Do not send the perfume back- what reputable company would suggest this - they know it's fake. You could advise them you are going to contact trading standards if they don't refund you- that should sort out the wheat from the chaff.0
