Indeed also they have been watching them relocation relocation programmes and are renting in london to work weekdays and living in the country at weekends!0 -
Don't be disheartened yet, in this market two weeks is nothing. Buyers are waiting to see who wins the election and waiting to see if the housing market is going to crash - nobody wants negative equity. Maybe buyers are wary of the street, the fact that many of the other houses are neglected might make them anxious about the neighbours so perhaps you need to get the estate agents to stress factors that suggest it's the next big up-and-coming area. Good schools? Starbucks?
Whenever possible get the agents to show people round, there's nothing more depressing than tarting the house up for buyers that are clearly not interested!0 -

None of the houses actually appear neglected as such from the outside although a couple could do with a bit of TLC inside - mainly decorating.
The street generally looks neat and well-kept and the houses themselves are very attractive with gabled roofs and bay windows; each house even has an individual name from 1911 with it's own (original) engraved stone plaque!
But most of the houses that are up for sale are of the 'net curtains and gnomes' school of interior design - the House Doctor would get the heebie-jeebies) and not very well-presented for today's market.
Yes, I know you're right - 2 weeks really isn't very long, but I've been used to getting offers within a few days in all my previous sales, especially after the house has appeared in the local paper. This usually brings a flood of viewers. This time it has produced not one so far.
And I wouldn't be so concerned if we were getting people through the door, but we're not.
The agent is adamant that the price is exactly right but I think we are going to have to reduce it very soon, to attract at least a few viewings - it is not going to sell without them.
As for Starbucks and good schools - there's nowhere for a Starbucks to go! Schools are nothing much to write home about in the entire borough, so couldn't sell it on that; it's neither up & coming nor run-down, neither interesting nor boring - as I said in a previous post, it's a very difficult area to describe but it does have good transport links.
kk - in your last paragraph, did you mean that the agents themselves should be conducting all the viewings (as opposed to us doing it) or that we should be on their case more to get viewers to come?
At the moment, any viewers at all would be a miracle; even ones who are not interested!!0 -
why dont you consider putting it up for auction with a reserved price,ask strettons about it,think they deal with a lot of property in e17/e4 look at what house's have sold at on previous auctions they look like there getting good prices, not to many bargains about at auction any more unless your a builder that is.0

Well the good news is that, in April, your house didn't lose value, but the market remains dead at 0% (Halifax figures).
However, that makes real losses more likely now as we move into the Summer months.
If you don't shift your property by the end of this month, I think you're looking at having to drop the price, or else take it off the market and stay put.
Alternatively, you could rent it out and give your new life on the coast a "test drive", as someone else on here recommended.0
