Issue with amazon

I am livid, just recieved an email from Amazon saying they are charging me x amount of money as I haven't returned an item they refunded me on. I sent the item weeks ago when I first recieved the email and details to print out and send.
The issue was with a dodgy fake tan but the 40 days had past but amazon agreed to refund me as long as I sent the item back.
I sent the item back in secure packing but it is a fake tan with no lid and no box (not sure if that makes a difference.) You see I had used it but it went off and i'd only had say 45-50 days and it was green which it shouldn't be.
I don't know where I stand consumer wise? I don't know if there lying and have recieved it or its been lost in the post.

When you say they gave you details to print out, do you mean a postage-paid returns label? If so, did you get proof of postage when you returned it? If so, I think it is Amazon's problem as Amazon has the contract for the return delivery.
That being said, Amazon are outside of UK jurisdiction. That may change things, I'm not sure what the laws are where they are based.0 -
Amazon are usually brilliant with returns and go way over the legal position.
All you need is to show proof of posting that you got when item was returned. I know their favoured return method is collect plus, so you should even have a tracking number.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
