Email list of scammers - I was done by one on ebay...

Hi,
The scam on ebay is to send you a fraudulent cheque for more than the goods are worth, then ask for excess money back by return. By the time you find out their cheque is a fraud, they have already got your money. They do it for a whole number of sites, not just ebay. Strangely enough I found a pet owners site (terrificpets.com) that has looked into this and published a list of known scammers.

The person who scammed me on ebay is

REMOVED BY BG LISTING PERSONAL CONTACT EMAILS AGAINST BOARD RULES

who went by the name iwantyouto and managed 5-ve feedback before they were dropped.
The other emails are listed on:

REMOVED BY BG AS INAPPROPRIATE

Take care, it now puts back my auction, and if anyone knows what I can do to get it properly relisted I would be grateful for the help.
Cheers,
P

The fraudulent cheque scam is an old one and is actually more common via small ad sales in the local papers than it is on ebay.

If you are selling a phone list it for the UK only, set your preferences to limit bids from countries to which you do not ship, and those with negative feedback. Then watch the auction near the end and remove any bids that you don't 'look right'.

If you get offered a cheque to cash and return part of the funds then just say no and report user to ebay.
