If it is your DLA paying for the motability car then you can drive it as much as you want, wherever you want. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Not sure why they would fit trackers, the idea is the car gets you mobile, so seems a bit pointless really.
Possible you friend is trying to scare you, but either way I wouldn't worry.0 -
From the Motability Website re Location trackers:
http://www.motability.co.uk/understanding-the-scheme/overview/protecting-the-scheme
Location trackers
The Motability lease package includes cover for two named drivers, however regardless of who is driving the car should always be used for the benefit of the disabled customer. To ensure that our customers are gaining direct benefit from their Motability car, Motability has started to fit a limited number of location trackers to applications for new cars where the risk of potential misuse is highest, for example customers who permanently live in a care home and have a number of drivers who have access to the car.
We expect to fit location trackers in fewer than five percent of the more than 630,000 cars leased through Motability. Where a location tracker has been identified as appropriate we will always speak to the customer in advance of the tracker being fitted. Data will only be collected on the location of a car at any given point and we will only make use of this data where we receive a report, or suspect, that a car may be being misused.
Location trackers are just one of the many ways that we act to protect the Scheme from abuse and to ensure that the cars are used for the benefit of our customers.
There is some more information about Motability fitting the trackers in the following item from the Disability News Service:

Pete's post explains all.
It's also important to remember that it's their car (they're renting it to you), so they should be able to fit a tracker if they want.
The issue isn't you taking someone to work, it's the car being taken to work without you having anything to do with it.💙💛 💔0 -
Thats going to upset my neighbours lad then.. He lives in London and has her mobility vehicle. Only sees the car when he makes a rare visit or its time for a new one.
I see it as a good thing. No restriction if your using it properly. But helps cut down those that abuse it.
Maybe a sensor that arms the immobiliser if it detects cannabis in the car. The one that passed me in sainsburys stunk of it. I was at least 30 feet away as it went past and the smell was overpowering.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
