Diversion through bus lane

Hi all
I'm kicking myself here as I've received a bus lane fine for travelling through a bus lane.
This is an old street view image of the bus lane - the signage has now been updated:
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.365249,-1.472695,3a,75y,162.72h,67.89t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sB4Q_bOI4ZqjUr-1W-4XjoQ!2e0
When I normally travel this route, I turn left as the road markings advise. Keep driving for about quarter of a mile, turn right and travel for quarter of a mile and then turn right again - just under half a mile and I end up at the other end of the bus lane.
Last week, there was a 'diverted traffic' sign that had the arrow pointing through the bus lane. You can see the other end of the bus lane and there was also another diverted traffic sign there. So, I follow the diversion.
Imagine my surprise when I receive a bus lane fine through the post. First thing I did was to hot foot it down to the bus lane with my camera where I took a picture of the diversion signs - fortunately they were still there.
My next step is to contact the council and make a representation against the ticket using their process. I will include the photos that I took.
Before I do that, is there anything else that I should do or anything that I should mention?
Many thanks in advance.

And mine, however if the OP contacts pepipoo.com they will be able to help him.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

You would have to prove that Asline Road was impassable and that the "diverted traffic" sign applied universally to all traffic and not just some buses that were diverted from another route or a height/width restriction.
If you post the pics you took here, we may be able to advise further.0 -
I've just made representation to the council a few minutes ago.
These are the photos that I took:
Zooming in showing the diversion sign at the other end:
If a diversion was for buses only then presumably the sign should say so.
This shows that the road is indeed straight on (and not right, as indicated on the sign).
I will see what happens with my appeal.0 -
I would assert that the signage (both permanent and temporary) is confusing and unclear. The permanent sign shows the main road curving to the left, yet there are give way markings on the road, which make the whole thing ambiguous. Then the diverted traffic sign ought to point left if that's really where they wanted the traffic to go.0

Bad luck. I would do exactly what you're doing and take the matter to the traffic penalty Tribunal. Raise your case with the independent judge at that trial and looking at your evidence I would be very surprised if they do not determine in your favour. Best of luck0

True but if they didn't want the traffic to go down the bus lane why put the sign down the other end?0 -
You really ought to take this over to Pepipoo's council ticket forum (http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=30), as they are the experts and will be able to ensure the points of your appeal are solid. You'll need to post the actual notice (suitably redacted).0
