Hi,
I'm off to Uni in September but regrettably have to leave the job that I absolutely love. I want to return in the long holidays back to this job. I spoke to my line-manager who said it's not a problem but I have to put this request in writing for HR.
Please can someone help me with a rough copy as I have tried to express my sadness of leaving because of the love of the job, people and the fact I want to return in holidays but nothing is clicking together and flowing. I'm getting very frustrated and want this letter in this week.
Thank you

If it's a letter for HR it's unlikely that they will care what emotion you put into the letter. I'd state the facts (resignation at such-and-such date, available to return in holidays) and perhaps say that your line manager is happy to have you back.0

It's tough because technically you are not resigning if you are going back in the holidays.
Best thing, ask to arrange a meeting with your local HR rep and see what they say and whether your employment status with them can just be changed to a 0 hour or casual basis as and when you need it.
Your line manager might be happy to have you back as and when, but company policy might not cater for it.0
