Credit Refrerence Agency searches

Hi, I have a couple of accounts that don't appear on Experian or Equifax credit reports, does this mean there is no record of me having them anywhere? Why wouldn't they appear on either report?

Thanks,
KH

    Ate they on Noddle?

    What are the accounts for?

    How old?

Are they up to date or defaulted?

  • What is Noddle? Do lenders use Noddle I thought it was just Experian, Equifax and CreditCall.

The accounts are active but less than a year old.

    Thanks,
    KH

Noddle is CallCredit. What are the accounts for/who are they with?
  • Fluid credit card and TSB current acc. I haven't checked Callcredit as I was advised that my potential lender (Virgin Money) only use Experian and Equifax.

    Hello there,

It isn't a legal requirement for a creditor to process your information on a credit report - though most will. I also have a Lloyds account that doesn't show although my Nationwide one does.

Experian and Equifax are certainly far more used than Callcredit although I think the latter has made significant progress in catching up the other two over the last couple of years.

    Best wishes,

    David @ National Debtline.

  • So how do lenders know about your credit if it's not on the credit agencies files?

They won't, and that could be to your advantage.
  • How would it be to my advantage? Surely if I have credit which doesn't show on report the lender will pick this up from my bank statements ie money going from my account to another undisclosed account??

So how do lenders know about your credit if it's not on the credit agencies files?

A potential lender would know about any debts you have (because you would declare them on your credit application), they won't know about any unused credit limits you have on any accounts that don't appear on the files of whichever agency(ies) they happen to search.
Unless that is they ask on the credit application what other available credit you have, unsecured lenders very rarely do, a mortgage lender might.

When you say credit do you mean debt?
When you say lender do you mean your own bank?

If so then possibly yes, your own bank can see the transactions out of your current account. That said they won't know for certain what the payments are for and whether they are for a debt and if so whether the debt belongs to you.

  • Thanks for info Tixy.

Surely there is a loophole in the system that some unscrupulous person could take advantage of because if you didn't declare the debt and it doesn't show on credit report how would the lender know about it?

When I say lender I mean any mortgage lender.
