Scottish Power Final Bill - seething

I moved house a couple of weeks ago and what a carry on I have had with Scottish Power. First I called them about a week before the move to inform them and they said it was too soon and they would call me the day before the move. A different agent called me every day since that call! then the day before the move? no call so I was chasing them up! Anyway, I wanted to move them to my new property, they informed me they have to close this account and will open a new one for me at the new property but its around 6 weeks until they take over the supply. Fair enough.
Except my account was over £300 in credit and I gave my final readings 3 weeks ago now and still have not seen a final bill or cheque for the remaining credit! I have emailed them and phoned them and getting a different story every time, from "it takes 6 weeks to produce a final bill" (WHY?!?!?!) to "my account is under investigation and it will take 30 days before they can provide me a response" (even though the next time I phoned them, the advisor knew nothing about this!!).
Its so frustrating because as soon as it looked like I was going into debit, they push up my direct debit at a moments notice, yet do nothing about reducing it even though Ive been in credit by roughly that amount for 6 months now.
Sorry, this was more of a rant than anything but ITS MY MONEY AND I WANT IT BACK!!!! :rotfl:

You can't just 'move' to an account at the new property. Once is closed and a new one opened, But, on the day you moved in, you were in a deemed contract with the existing suppliers, and you can't commence a switch until you register with them for an account and give opening reads. It then takes 4-5 weeks to switch.
If you attempt to go direct to SP as described then the existing supplier will block the switch, as you've no-one to switch from.
4-6 weeks is not unusual for a final billing-why did you allow so much credit build up prior to the move?
Finally, why are you giving your ongoing business to a company that you are so upset with?No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I didnt know about having to close an account and open a new one as I haven't moved house in 20 years. As I was on a fixed rate contract, I just thought I was tied into that, even if I moved. I was happy enough with them at the time when I called asked to transfer to my new property and I stupidly thought the account would transfer with the £300 credit. I was going to take it out but then thought everything is going to go a bit belly up with the bills for a month or so with the move so at least I wouldnt need to worry about having money for the gas and leccy bill. Never mind, lots of lessons learned from this experience. Its just ridiculous how quickly they put up the DD when it looks like you are about to go into the red, yet I never heard a peep from them about how much I was in credit, they never offered to reduce the DD.:heart2: Cookiepops :heart2:0

I dont think SP have any CS accept maybe retention and new customer enquires. Its endless queues on phone they never ring back and take ages to answer emails. Glad I am leaving this worthless excuse of a company0

I moved from SP to Npower on 9 April and I am still waiting for my correct final bill! The trouble is that now i have left them i cannot access my online account/bills. To be honest both companies are rubbish - they all promise to do things then forget all about you.I have just read my gas meter and the latest bill from NP shows that I have used 2000 units more than the reading which was supposed to be an actual reading.0

Wow! Talk about "out of the frying pan into the fire".0 -
Scottish Power should be banned from taking on new customers until they sort out the mess they are in.Je suis sabot...0

NPower should also be banned from new custom until they sort their mess. Rather than these rubbish fines, where does that fine money go?Peace.0
