1GB USB Flash Key Drive + 64MB spare £5 delivered

Play.com have a MAXELL 1GB Flash drive with a free 64MB drive, for £4.99 inc delivery!

http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/3297341/Maxell-USB-Twin-Pack-1GB-64MB-Flash-Drive/Product.html

I've just bought three of them for myself and family as they were too cheap to resist.

£4.99 for the 1GB alone inc delivery is fab, but the 'extra' 64MB one is a bonus. I have a friend who is just getting the hang of computers and it will be more than enough for him, so I am dead chuffed!

PS: This is the first time I have tried to share details of bargain on here so please be gentle with me!

'Lose' - as in "I hate to lose" only has one 'o'.
'Loose' - as in 'Loose change' is not the same word!

This was posted last Friday, Seems they got a bad review but can be formatted to eliminate the more annoying behaviors

I use these maxell drives and I think they are great. They have preinstalled security software which allows you to hide files behind a password protected hidden partition.

An excellent product and at £4.99 a total steal.

I have just bought one for £4.99, although a couple of the reviews said they were rubbish , rest of them were good , so I might need some help to get it up and running when it arrives.
    no debts
  • Ah that's so annoying. I bought 2 this week csot me £10 each including postage.

so any news on how they are?
    the reviews dont look good
  • 01YPAG3QDRL.jpgI have just found an Integral 1GB High Speed COURIER Pen Drive - USB Memory (HERE at Amazon) for Price: £2.73 The only drawback is that the delivery is Xtra unless you buy £15's worth of goods. Although it may be worth buying 5.4945054 of them and keeping some for a Christmas or Birthday present.

7dayshop.com are another good source of Flash Key Drives. 2GB for £9.99 + £3.95 postage. Not quite as good a deal as play.com but if you are buying other items like camera cards and re-chargable batteries it evens itself out. Its worth a look if you haven't already been there but make sure you have a couple of hours spare :D
  • Martin, is this a "white elephant" deal? Play.com lists negative reports from quite a few people saying stay away cos it's rubbish, such as:-

As for the reviewer before me, the second partition with the so-called security software is making these drives unusable! Every second an explorer window for the partition keeps popping up in front of all other windows, no way to stop this except by unplugging the drive .. And formatting doesn't get rid of this, the second partition is recognized as a CD Drive instead of a removable drive and so can't be formatted.
    DON'T BUY THIS!!!!

Therefore, is this a good deal or not? Even though it's only a fiver that is still a fiver wasted if the thing doesn't work as it should!! It's pretty much 50-50 regarding performance reviews! I'm confused.
