I am thinking about organising a Xmas Fair to help my DGD raise
funds for a childrens home in Peru and was wondering if I would need any special Insurance if I do this.

Certainly public liability insurance. Venue probably won't even take your booking without it.

Depends on the venue - the policy on my Church Hall includes PLI but limits it to 3 events for the same hirer in a year.

    Ask the venue

Thank you so much for this, I will ask, it is a church hall that I had in mind and only planning 1 fair so looking at the cost of the insurance it would not be worth it.

Are there any community halls or parks you could arrange it in? Some might have PLI to cover these events or can arrange it for you. Or could you set up a stall or two in a fair-type event that already happens during the year? There's usually loads round Christmas time.

One thing you may consider is joining the Market Traders Federation ! single membership for a year is about £60 and gives you public liability insurance which would cover your event :)
Join the "Fairs" section rather than a local branch !
    Hope this helps ?
