online app on clarity credit card decline

Is it true that if you closed your other credit card with halifax only 2 months ago that an online application for another type ie.clarity credit card will not be processed? I always paid minimum and then settled balance in full before my 0%purchase deal ran out, then closed the account. Now want another card but a message comes up at the end of application form saying that i still have a credit card account with them (which i closed as i no longer required it.)any thoughts?

It can take up to 6 months for the previous account to be fully removed from their system for a new online application to be made - doing it over the phone worked for me in the same situation.

  • spoke to them over the phone, can't do anything but wait 6 months to apply, wish i kept the card open. clarity card would have helped for holiday monies.
  • So yesterday i emailed a complaints letter, i had trouble getting through to advisor as line went dead twice. Automated recordings, pressed a few buttons, then had to be passed on to another advisor, so today i got a call, offering £31 compensation and she is able to get old acc. to stop showing on online banking so i will be able to reapply for clarity card in 48hours. ...Now just waiting for monies and card details to drop off online banking...
  • Got my £31 compensation in my account within 2 hours of speaking to them over the phone. 47hours later I checked online halifax banking, old/closed credit card details had dropped off, so applied again online for clarity card and this time I was accepted. So awaiting new clarity card to be posted to me now.
