I've never watched NCIS so can't really say, I imagine that they are quite different, but if you like a crime drama with action I'd definitely recommend it. The main difference with this series and others like it, is that it is set in real-time, with each series representing 24 hours, so each series is usually about one thing (as opposed to the one-criminal/crime-per-episode format that most of these programmes follow)

I love a good thriller / crime drama / courtroom drama but found 24 very hard to watch. It's just too slick or something? Hard to put my finger on it? Currently on season 4 of the us The Killing on Netflix. I prefer them a bit more gritty.

I'm sure there's a comment to be made in there somewhere!
